A woman plans a monthly content calendar on her laptop at a wooden desk.

Short answer: Motion is worth it if you want one AI tool to plan your whole workday, including projects, docs and meetings, and the plan price fits your budget: from $19/seat/month for teams on annual billing, but $49/month for one person paying monthly. If you mainly want AI to protect focus time and personal routines, cheaper tools such as Reclaim (free Lite plan) cover much of that for less.

Below we break down what Motion actually costs, what you get, the trial and refund terms, and who should skip it. Every price was checked on Motion’s official pages on October 16, 2026.

What Motion is

Motion is an AI work suite. Its core feature is the AI Task Planner, which takes your task list and fits each task into open time on your calendar, then reshuffles when plans change. Around that, the pricing page lists AI Chat, AI Projects and Tasks, AI Calendar and Meetings, AI Docs, Wiki and Notes, and an AI Writer and Editor (Motion pricing).

That scope matters for the “worth it” question. You aren’t paying for a calendar add-on; you’re paying for a project manager, a scheduler and a notes tool in one. If you’d use all of it, the price compares differently than if you only want auto-scheduling.

How much Motion costs in 2026

Motion’s pricing page defaults to one view, and the price you see depends on two toggles: Individuals or Teams, and monthly or annual billing. We read all four combinations from the pricing data on the official page.

PlanIndividual, annualIndividual, monthlyTeam, annual (per seat)Team, monthly (per seat)
Pro AI$29/month$49/month$19/month$29/month
Business AI$39/month$69/month$29/month$49/month

A few details worth knowing:

  • The $19 figure is a team, annual price. If you’re one person paying month to month, Pro AI is $49/month.
  • Annual billing saves more than the headline says for individuals. Motion advertises “save 33%.” On the individual Pro AI plan, $29 instead of $49 works out to about 41% off; on team Pro AI, $19 instead of $29 is about 34% off (our arithmetic from the published prices).
  • AI credits are included. Pro AI includes 7,500 AI credits per seat per month and Business AI includes 15,000, with extra credits sold in blocks of 100.
  • App Store prices differ. If you subscribe inside the iPhone app, the US App Store lists $44.99/month and $294.99/year (App Store listing).

Business AI adds team capacity planning, advanced dashboards and reports, timeline and Gantt charts, time tracking, permissions and access control, central billing and priority support. Most solo users won’t need it.

Free trial, card hold and refunds

Motion has no free plan. Its App Store listing advertises a 7-day free trial, and Motion’s help center says that when you sign up you choose a plan, add billing information, and a $1 card hold is placed to verify your account, released in a couple of days (Motion Help: Account and Login FAQ).

Motion’s terms say that if you’re on a free trial, your subscription begins when the trial ends, and that purchases are non-refundable; Motion “is not obligated to refund” payments. The terms do give an address for anyone who believes they were charged improperly: [email protected] (Motion Terms).

Our practical advice: decide in advance which day you’ll make a keep-or-cancel call, and put it on your calendar before you start the trial.

What you get for the money

Based on Motion’s pricing page and app listing, here’s what stands out:

  • Automatic scheduling of tasks around meetings, with replanning when something moves.
  • Projects and docs in the same tool, so tasks, notes and timelines live together.
  • Meeting scheduling inside the same app.
  • Mobile apps for iOS and Android, though the App Store listing describes the phone app as a companion to the web and desktop app, not a standalone tool.

What Motion doesn’t publish clearly: whether your task and calendar content is used to improve its AI. We cover that next.

Privacy and AI training

Motion’s privacy policy (last updated June 27, 2025) lists “training and developing machine learning algorithms” among the purposes for which it uses personal information, alongside personalized advertising (Motion Privacy Policy). The policy doesn’t spell out whether that covers the content of your tasks and calendar. Because a planner sees your meetings, clients and deadlines, we’d read the policy in full before connecting a work calendar.

For contrast, Reclaim’s privacy policy says it won’t use your personal data, including calendar data, to train generative AI models without your explicit consent or opt-in (Reclaim Privacy Policy).

Who Motion is worth it for

Motion makes the most sense if you:

  • Manage a lot of tasks and projects and want AI to decide when each one happens.
  • Would actually use the projects, docs and notes features, replacing one or two other paid tools.
  • Work on a team that can use the team plans, where pricing starts at $19/seat/month on annual billing.
  • Are comfortable committing to annual billing, which is where the lower prices are.

Who should skip it

Motion is probably not worth it if you:

  • Mostly want personal routines and focus time protected. Reclaim’s free Lite plan includes AI agents for focus time, habits and breaks (Reclaim pricing).
  • Prefer to plan your own day. Sunsama guides you through a daily planning ritual instead of auto-scheduling, at $17/month billed yearly with a 14-day trial and no card required (Sunsama pricing).
  • Are a solo user paying monthly on a tight budget. At $49/month, Pro AI costs more than most tools in our AI planners comparison.
  • Want a phone-first planner. Motion’s own listing says the mobile app isn’t meant to be used without a computer.

Our verdict

Motion is a capable, ambitious tool, and for people who would use its projects and docs features it can replace more than one subscription. But it’s priced as work software, its cheapest headline price applies only to teams on annual billing, there’s no free plan, and its terms make purchases non-refundable. Try it for the 7 days with a clear test in mind (for example, “Did it plan at least four of my five workdays without me fixing it?”), and compare it with Reclaim’s free plan before you commit to a year.
